The latest donation to Ukraine’s $33 million campaign comes from CryptoPunk NFT.
Non-fungible tokens have proved to be very useful in the funding campaign led by Ukraine amid the crisis it is facing. Crypto donors have already raised 33 million US Dollars in cryptocurrencies. Many NFT platforms and individual collectors have donated for the noble cause, and Larva Labs is the latest addition to the list.
On Tuesday, CryptoPunk #5364 was sent to Ukraine’s Ethereum wallet, putting a potentially lucrative and sought-after cap on a fundraising drive that has already raised over $33 million in cryptocurrency.
The Punk’s value is estimated to be around $200,000 by Tom Robinson of crypto tracking firm Elliptic, who noticed the contribution late Tuesday; DeepNFTvalue, a blog that utilizes machine learning to estimate prices for uncommon NFTs, put it at $233,000 by DeepNFTvalue.
The Punk sold for $31,300 in February 2021, which was the last time it was sold. As per the market value, the rise in the NFT’s prices is high. According to their wallet address, the donor has a collection of numerous additional Punks.
Ukraine confirms airdrops for cryptocurrency donors.
The Ukrainian government will send airdrops to donors in exchange for the $33 million in cryptocurrency donations.
On February 26, 2022, the Ukrainian government requested donations in cryptocurrency from the rest of the globe. “Stand with the people of Ukraine,” said an official tweet. Donations in cryptocurrencies are now accepted. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT are all digital currencies….”
Donations came in from a variety of places after the appeal. Since the beginning of the Russian incursion, the Ukrainian government and NGOs offering military support have raised $35 million from over 35,000 crypto asset donations.
According to the sources, this includes a $5.8 million donation from Polkadot founder Gavin Wood and a CryptoPunk NFT worth over $200,000 mentioned earlier.
“Snapshot will be taken tomorrow, March 3, at 6 pm Kyiv time (UTC/GMT +2 hours),” tweeted @FedoroMykhailo (Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine). “There will be a reward!” The particular airdrop rules and related information, on the other hand, is yet to be known.
Airdrop is a cryptocurrency trading method. Apart from the traditional approach of investing one’s own money to promote a new virtual currency or incentivize the usage of specific platforms, users with public crypto wallets are frequently given free coins or tokens.
About CryptoPunks project.
CryptoPunks is an Ethereum-based non-fungible token (NFT) collection. The Larva Labs studio is a two-person company, founded by Matt Hall and John Watkinson, who debuted the project in June 2017.
The experimental project was influenced by London punk scenes, the cyberpunk movement, and Daft Punk’s electronic music. The ERC-721 standard for NFTs and the present crypto art movement were both inspired by the crypto art blockchain initiative, which has subsequently become a component of the cryptocurrency and decentralised finance ecosystems on numerous blockchains.
The Cryptopunks were one of the first “Non-Fungible Tokens” on Ethereum, and the ERC-721 standard that enables most digital art and collectibles was inspired by them. Their popularity among celebrities and collectors have also been high since the project’s inception.
The interested buyers need to know this about the Punks:
Punks with a blue backdrop are not for sale, and no bids are currently being accepted. The owner of the red-background punks is looking to sell them. Finally, punks with a purple backdrop are the subject of an active bid.
