International luxury jewelry house Mouawad to release NFTs of Miss Universe Crown

For the first time, the one-of-a-kind and storied icon will be made available to Miss Universe admirers using NFT technology, giving them the opportunity to become a part of Miss Universe history.

    Mouawad and Icecap

Mouawad, an international luxury jewelry house, has partnered with Icecap, a global leader in developing non-fungible tokens for investment-grade diamonds, to give fractionalized ownership of the Mouawad-created Miss Universe crown via non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

The Miss Universe Power of Unity Crown was first worn by 2019 Miss Universe winner Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa, then by 2020 Miss Universe Andrea Meza of Mexico, and is now worn by 2021 Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu.

    Luxury Jewelry and NFTs?

For the first time, the one-of-a-kind and storied icon will be made available to Miss Universe admirers using NFT technology, giving them the opportunity to become a part of Miss Universe history.

“As our society becomes more digitalized, things become feasible that would have been difficult to understand less than a generation ago,” said Icecap’s founder and CEO, Jacques Voorhees.

“Not only do NFTs provide irrefutable proof of ownership of an object, but they may also access digital content linked with that thing—in this example, information about the pageant, the contestants, the contestant tales, and the crown itself.”

The Queen’s jewels will be tokenized?

“Miss Universe is one of the most spectacular and popular competitions in the world today,” Pascal Mouawad, Co-Guardian of the prestigious Dubai diamond company, said. “Having an event that exemplifies the human qualities of power, unity, intelligence, and perseverance is encouraging.” The crown itself is one of the most amazing pieces of jewelry in the world, representing the powerful message of these principles.”

If the Power of Unity crown is ever retired, it will either be kept in a museum and the tokens will be permitted to trade permanently, or the token owners will have the option to vote to sell the crown at auction.

What the Miss Universe Organization has to say?

“Because we’ll be employing fractionalized NFTs technology for this project,” Voorhees noted, “the smart contract underlying the tokens will allow a majority to effectively ‘vote’ on what will happen to the crown if it is ever retired from the pageant.” If the crown is sold, the money will be distributed to the NFT holders immediately.”

“We’re ecstatic that fans will be able to purchase a piece of Miss Universe history,” said Paula M. Shugart, President of the Miss Universe Organization. “The Miss Universe Organization is honored to collaborate with Icecap and Mouawad on this amazing chance to engage with fans and expand our reach.”

    The generation-changing collaboration

“The smart contract underlying the tokens will allow a majority to effectively ‘vote’ on what will happen to the crown if it is ever retired from the pageant,” Voorhees explained, “since we’ll be using fractionalized NFTs technology for this project.” If the crown is sold, the proceeds will be instantly transferred to NFT holders.”

The Miss Universe Organization’s President, Paula M. Shugart, remarked, “We’re pleased that fans will be able to acquire a piece of Miss Universe history.” “Icecap and Mouawad have given the Miss Universe Organization the incredible opportunity to communicate with fans and broaden our reach.”
